Stag & Hen Weekends
Quiet country. Open sky. Deeper practice.
Tucked into the peaceful Sussex countryside near Lewes, Gildridge Estate is the kind of place a retreat needs to be — quiet, spacious, and softly removed from the noise of everyday life. With room for up to 24 guests across six bedrooms, it offers retreat leaders a fully private setting where every detail of the experience can be shaped without compromise.
The property's flowing layout works beautifully for group practice and reflection. The large drawing rooms, with their exposed beams and natural light, transform easily into spaces for morning vinyasa, evening yin or guided meditation. The estate's lawns and gardens — surrounded by woodland, ponds and rolling hills — invite outdoor practice, slow walks and quiet contemplation. On clear mornings, the open sky and gentle Sussex landscape do as much as any teacher to settle the nervous system.
The dining room seats up to 28, making communal meals — a heartbeat of any retreat — a natural part of the daily rhythm. Caterers and chefs are welcomed by the well-equipped kitchen, and the long farmhouse-style table encourages connection over nourishing food. Between sessions, guests can soak in the private hot tub, read in the garden, or simply rest in the calm of a beautifully restored country home.
Bedrooms accommodate solo and shared arrangements, with king, double and twin configurations suiting a range of retreat formats. The South Downs National Park is nearby for guided walks, and the village of Chiddingly — with its traditional English character — lies just over a mile away for gentle excursions.
Gildridge offers the privacy of an entire estate, the comforts of a six-bedroom home, and the stillness of the Sussex countryside. It is, quite simply, a place where retreats deepen.
